The Plum Tree Year Ahead! It Will Be Busy!

I have many things planned for 2013…
Plum Tree Books will be:
  • Featuring some of the poets who have participated in various Plum Tree Books’ anthologies…bless them all!
  • Featuring some of my wonderful fellow writers…
  • Publishing writers Arianne Meyer and Marta Pelrine Bacon.
  • Launching a new series of children’s books
  • Launching the Plum Tree Range of cards with attachable poems…

image1063 - copy.pArianne’s book is based on her life journey as she shares with us how she healed from shocking abuse. It is a wonderful, inspiring story, and I am proud to publish it.

Marta Pelrine Bacon’s novel: The Blue Jar is a quirky tale that is absolutely compelling to read. Marta is a new author and a gifted artist. Again, I am proud to publish her. I don’t have the cover to show you yet, as the book is still in the editing stage. But here is a picture of one of the beautiful Greetings Cards illustrated by Marta for Plum Tree Books. P.s. Launch soon!

These cards come with attachable poems and are unique! I have found some wonderful artists, including Marta Pelrine Bacon, Maria Antonietta Terrana, and Susie Bertie whose images I have captured and now share with you. All of these ladies donated works to auction for the Song Of Sahel earlier in the year.

I will also be launching a range of niche children’s books that I have written with illustrations from Marta and Maria.

front cover fpr webGeorge and the Frog is the first in the series focusing on helping children with their emotions. In this first story, we find George coming face to face with the death of his frog. His grandfa’ is there to help, of course!

In the second story of this series, we will meet Anabel Wagstaff who throws a tantrum! A story for children and parents about how to cope with temper! It is completely written in rhyme!

With gorgeous illustrations by award-winning artist, Maria Antonietta Terrana, we feel this series of books will have broad appeal.

The second Plum tree series is all about how everything in the garden serves a purpose. Really, it is basic science for small children. The garden, after all, is a magical place and the natural eco-system is a thing of wonder. In the first story, Rosie learns the purpose of wearing wellington boots!

In the second story, Wolly The Worm, Rosie learns how worms bring food to the table.

Marta Pelrine-Bacon adds her magical, quirky touch to the illustrations.

orange_rose1.pAnd I must not forget to mention my own impending publication: the follow-up to Orange Petals In A Storm in the Skyla McFee series: Exaltation Of A Rose.

As both of these stories are novella sized, I have incorporated them into one book. This is so that those of you who have not read Orange Petals In a Storm may do so as the precursor to Exaltation Of A Rose. More on this later.

It will be a busy year! P.s. Hope you like the new cover!

About Dr Niamh

When I was a little girl (a very, very long time ago), I used to love learning new, really big words like ‘discombobulate’. As I grew, my love of words grew too, until I loved them so much, I could not stop writing them down. One day, as I was scribbling a particular word, a very peculiar thing happened. The word shouted at me, “Stop! Don’t put me there!” As you can imagine, I was shocked and nearly fell off my chair. When I recovered somewhat, I said to the word, “Could you stop shouting, please? I am not used to it.” Can you guess what happened next? No! I thought not. The word said, “I might be small, but I will misbehave if you do not use me properly. I will not tell the story you would like me to tell. I will say something entirely different!” I dropped my pen. I hoped that by dropping my pen, the word would stop talking. Alas! It did not. It carried on chitterchobbling, even after the ink had dried. I was in a pickle. I could not allow my words to run away with my story, now could I? I don’t know about you, but when this sort of thing happens, there is only one thing left to do if you prefer not to spend your time arguing. “Very well,” said I. “I will do as you ask if you will just be quiet and allow me to concentrate.” Since that day, I have been paying special attention to every word I invite into my stories. After all, a story should say exactly what it means to say and not be led astray. With love from Dr. Niamh, Ph.D in Learning Through The Imagination and Founder of Dr Niamh Children's Books. www.drniamhchildrensbooks.com

It’s going to be a wild ride. Fantastic cover and what a wondrous idea to combine the two books of Skyla McFee. What a wonderful collection of books. The children’s series should be quite popular. The illustrations are going to be so inspirational combined with the words of all the writers including yourself. And educating the kids is a well thought out plan. I remember Michael, a child I cared for starting when he was just two. He was so fascinated with the words and the pictures and wanted to repeat the pages over and over again. Wanting to touch the images in the illustrations and talk all about them. The children will pick up so much that will be ingrained in them in a good way that will generate such positive sensibilities in their lives. That is why I want to collect the books for Luke my 3 month old nephew on Dec 22nd. So he has one week added to that. He just got our package for his nursery of the poem and abstract streak lightening photo I placed on a post I created for him before her was born. You are so back in full force. So full of energy and productions. The optimism is there and the creativity is so amazingly magical. A good start to the beginning of a good year for you. I am so overjoyed to see all of this. Lots of Love and a happy Cheer for your success. Clink of glasses. Sip and throw the glasses at the fireplace for luck. Love This All, Jennifer 🙂

Oh, yes, Niamh, misspoke, I know the writing and ideas in the children’s books are yours. Meant to say that and it came out wrong. I meant to say all the words from the other writers in their books, also. My mind was moving ahead of my typing. I am glad you corrected my running thought. So many books that I want to read. I am quite interested in Tammy Lang’s book. Sounds like a book that will be very emotionally and psychologically cathartic for me and for others. How brave she is to write about something so painful and traumatic. Also, Marta’s book is one I have been looking forward to. I love the way she writes and her art is so imaginative.

All of what you are producing shines so bright that it should light up the world. I am looking forward to this year. It feels like a brand new start. As the Mayans projected, it was not the end of the world that we have been facing but a new beginning and a new wave of enlightenment. A new age similar to the Renaissance of the 15th century to the 17th century. Hopefully, humankind will grab ahold of what is being offered and run with it to. The planet may be saved yet.

Good Luck, Niamh. All sounds extremely exciting. Lots of Love and Encouragement. Jennifer xoxox 😉
