5 Star Reviews for Song Of Sahel!

All 5 Star Reviews for Song Of Sahel…

Thank you to the following for their brilliant 5 star reviews of  Song Of Sahel... Cher Duncombe, Douglas Johnson, Claudio Fiore, Beverley Ann Hoyles and Susie Bertie. Don’t forget to tell your friends about this wonderful anthology that brings poetry to bear on current events and brings to light the feelings and compassion of those of us who feel helpless in the face of such calamity. All we have is our talent and goodwill to try to make a difference to others.

Poetry is not a luxury but a necessity. It tempers civilizations and keeps them sane. A poet speaks for all the people when s/he raises to light those unspoken, pre-verbal sentiments that weave the fabric of our humanity.

5.0 out of 5 stars Song of Sahel Anthology,  A Raising of Awareness 17 Sep 2012

By Cher Duncombe

Song Of Sahel Song of Sahel: A Raising of AwarenessIn a most unique fashion, poets, artists, musicians, and photographers from around the world, have given readers a profound awareness of the desperate plights of the people in the African region of the Sahel. The design of the book is flawless and immediately draws the reader in, knowing that this is a book of huge importance. For some time I have been interested in causes that plague Africa. This was the first time I have been involved in an effort so large in its heart that I was moved to tears several times. The hunger in the Sahel, the senseless perishing of its people, and the hope for which we all strive, live within these pages. This anthology is life-changing. It is poignant in the truth it displays through various mediums, and it raises our social consciousness to new heights. I highly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars From my Heart 14 Sep 2012

By Douglas A. Johnson

What makes this book special is that so many people young and old from all over the word have contributed to it. Their Art, photographs and poems shows empathy for the people of Sahel and celebrates proud lives. Song Of Sahel, with its theme of solidarity for Sahel, could not have a more diverse selection of contributions, each with a unique and personal perspective. Song Of Sahel takes you on a journey of insights, feelings, thoughts and impressions inviting you to travel from coast to coast across sub-Saharan Africa. It leaves the reader with a better understanding of what solidarity really means. It left me with the feeling that a deep inner connection exists between us all. I am proud to have been a humble part of this book’s creation. Over a span of 30 years I worked in 3 countries of Sahel as a development and Aid worker. I respect and love its people.Genuine poetry can communicate before it is understood.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous anthology, and a great cause. 20 Sep 2012

By Claudio Fiore

This eBook is a fantastic collection of art, photography and most importantly poetry. Also it is multimedia linking out to music which can be enjoyed while reading the book. It’s a fantastic buy, and a bargain, and of course the proceeds go to SOS Sahel charity as part of the Song Of Sahel event. Lots of stuff to participate in as well as enjoying some of the most moving poetry I have read in a long time. This is great and I am glad I have it on my various Kindles. Particularly on my Android phone when I can enjoy the poetry at any time.

5.0 out of 5 stars a place to care . . . September 15, 2012

By sparrow

This anthology stands alone as a beautiful testament to ego-less compassion. It is hard to be faced with the dusty & stark realities facing humanity …. to look need in the face, rise to meet it’s demands and then create something from that place of naked necessity — THIS composition bridges the painful into the sublime with knowledge & grace. The world spins madly on, seemingly ignorant of beauty & suffering equally so …. and every where we turn, there are causes yearning for our attention, and our dollars. Song of Sahel is so unique in its approach, remarkable in its craft, and so worthy of our time & care.
How does one make grace & art from the abject desperation of a barren landscape ? This is how …

About Dr Niamh

When I was a little girl (a very, very long time ago), I used to love learning new, really big words like ‘discombobulate’. As I grew, my love of words grew too, until I loved them so much, I could not stop writing them down. One day, as I was scribbling a particular word, a very peculiar thing happened. The word shouted at me, “Stop! Don’t put me there!” As you can imagine, I was shocked and nearly fell off my chair. When I recovered somewhat, I said to the word, “Could you stop shouting, please? I am not used to it.” Can you guess what happened next? No! I thought not. The word said, “I might be small, but I will misbehave if you do not use me properly. I will not tell the story you would like me to tell. I will say something entirely different!” I dropped my pen. I hoped that by dropping my pen, the word would stop talking. Alas! It did not. It carried on chitterchobbling, even after the ink had dried. I was in a pickle. I could not allow my words to run away with my story, now could I? I don’t know about you, but when this sort of thing happens, there is only one thing left to do if you prefer not to spend your time arguing. “Very well,” said I. “I will do as you ask if you will just be quiet and allow me to concentrate.” Since that day, I have been paying special attention to every word I invite into my stories. After all, a story should say exactly what it means to say and not be led astray.
