Carpe Diem! A day to let the heart sing the Song Of Sahel!

Good morning…and so this very special day begins. Over the next couple of days this blog, and all things Plum Tree will be celebrating the launch of the book, the music and the art that has been tirelessly created in order to achieve one thing and one thing only…to raise money for the people of Sahel who desperately need it.

I am asking you all to download these things. And let us have a couple of days of celebrating all that is beautiful in our souls, as we reach out to others in desperate need and who are, themselves, a magnificent, proud race of people smitten by unbelievable famine, disease and now flood.

I have always loved these people. They taught me so much.

Our humanity lies within our hearts, within our collective compassion. All we have to offer at Plum Tree Books are a few poems, a few songs, a few pictures. Please download them for Sahel. It is a small contribution, no more than the price of a cup of coffee.

Be angels! Download what we have created for this event..from our hearts to yours. Tweet us! Join us on Facebook Tell us you have bought the book from the Amazon page. Like us on Amazon, and tick our tags. This will help others to find our creations. Please do the same with the music on Juno and let Give Me Life and Island Of Hope fill you with hope that we can make a difference today.

Many, many thanks.

About Dr Niamh

When I was a little girl (a very, very long time ago), I used to love learning new, really big words like ‘discombobulate’. As I grew, my love of words grew too, until I loved them so much, I could not stop writing them down. One day, as I was scribbling a particular word, a very peculiar thing happened. The word shouted at me, “Stop! Don’t put me there!” As you can imagine, I was shocked and nearly fell off my chair. When I recovered somewhat, I said to the word, “Could you stop shouting, please? I am not used to it.” Can you guess what happened next? No! I thought not. The word said, “I might be small, but I will misbehave if you do not use me properly. I will not tell the story you would like me to tell. I will say something entirely different!” I dropped my pen. I hoped that by dropping my pen, the word would stop talking. Alas! It did not. It carried on chitterchobbling, even after the ink had dried. I was in a pickle. I could not allow my words to run away with my story, now could I? I don’t know about you, but when this sort of thing happens, there is only one thing left to do if you prefer not to spend your time arguing. “Very well,” said I. “I will do as you ask if you will just be quiet and allow me to concentrate.” Since that day, I have been paying special attention to every word I invite into my stories. After all, a story should say exactly what it means to say and not be led astray. With love from Dr. Niamh, Ph.D in Learning Through The Imagination and Founder of Dr Niamh Children's Books. www.drniamhchildrensbooks.com

YAY! We bought the ebook from Amazon 🙂 My sister and I posted about the book / events too. I wanted to let you know that the Amazon link on the “official” page still says “link coming soon”. This is very exciting! I hope today goes very well!

Thank You, Erik. And thank you for reminding me. I have been inundated with messages…in a spin. Will change it now. I have commented on your wonderful blog too. I am so glad you have joined in with this event and that you have bought this special book in which you and your sister are both featured.

This is such a wonderful project. I have seen Erik’s poem on his blog, and found it powerfully moving. I would buy the book if I could, but I don’t have a Kindle. Instead, I’m spreading word about your project on my Facebook — it’s not much, but it’s perhaps something.

Thank You…Much appreciated. I am sorry though that you cannot read it. It can be downloaded onto your computer, with a free kindle app. But I appreciate that not many people want to read something off their computer.

Best wishes do come true sometimes, Niamh,
and so I wish this project much success, and I pray
that many of the goals you have set for it will be reached.

I just bought the book at Amazon, and downloaded it using
the app, Kindle for PC. From what I’ve seen so far, I’d say
this book well-represents the heart and soul of all involved,
and its aim is true. Good launch! 🙂 Yours truly, Keith
